I popped down to our local Threshers yesterday evening, to stock up on cold lagers to knock back whilst watching the footie on TV – for some reason I find that I can either focus on the beer or on the footie, but not both, so usually quaff something undemanding when I’m watching footie!
While I was at Threshers I looked through their selection of bottled beers, which they tend to change fairly regularly. Needless to say, I succumbed to the lure of a few bottles – well their offer of 4 x 500ml bottles for £5.99 seems like a good deal. I got a couple of old favourites that I haven’t had for a while – Hook Norton Old Hooky and Wychwood Hobgoblin – and a couple that I don’t remember tasting before – Marston’s Firestoker and O’Hanlon’s Original Port Stout. I’ll be savouring these – and posting entries here – over the next few days.
