Bad Dog!

I saw this article in The Guardian last Saturday, about how a small Brewery in Scotland are developing a new beer designed from ingredients decided by online votes.  The BrewDog Brewery have a reputation for thumbing their nose at the “traditional” approach to brewing.  Is that a bad thing?  I personally don’t think so – mind you, I have to admit that I’ve never actually tasted any of their beers, a situation that I will try to remedy as soon as possible.  You have to push the boundaries if you are going to innovate and possibly produce something new and wonderful – and you have to keep an open mind when you come across these innovations.

An interesting thing about this article is the comments that have been posted – the full spectrum from the dyed-in-the-wool traditionalists who think that “hanging’s too good for ’em” to the more adventurous souls who think that BrewDog should be encouraged in their enterprise.  Which of these opinions will prevail in the future of the brewing industry?  It will be interesting to watch and find out.
